Dentistry work experience

I am a gap year student and will be applying to dental school this year. I am currently looking for work experience or volunteering. May I know would dental school expect gap years students to have more work experience than others who already applied before a levels and how many days of work experience would you say is the best? Do I need a wide variety of work experience or could I just stick to local practices? Thanks a lot

You need a considerable amount, and it’s better if it’s varied between private and nhs. From my work experience, you will see much more interesting things in private dentistry which you can talk about in interviews and things. But going to nhs is important to talk about too when you apply.
Go for at least a day at each practice. Did you do a weeks worth of work experience at school? If you didn’t, I would suggest you try and get in as many days as you can from now until you apply

In terms of work experience does it have to be related to dentistry ? I have been volunteering regularly for a year during year 12 in a hospital unit and I did some dentistry online work experience. I have spent 2 days in a dental practice and I orgnised another 2 days in another practice as well as 2 days in a dental lab in the following few weeks. I have done some other medical work experience such as radiology and mental health
