A day in the life of a Computer Science student in London

Hi everyone, Dai here! I’m studying Computer Science at University of Staffordshire London, and I’ve just finished my second year.

An average day for a Computer Science student could easily be attending a lecture and getting straight to work. Recently it's been attempting to understand Dijkstra's algorithm for route planning it's not going well at the moment but luckily I have feedback and mentor support in session. I often have one or two lectures in a day and can be found working on an assignment due at the end of semester.

The dreaded sight of a screen is blessed by the lovely view of Data Junction, our computer science hub that has everything I need to do my work onsite and some nice natural lighting and colour in the room. In these moments, it helps motivate me to continue working through databases like myphpadmin.

When I do decide to recharge and take a break, I have the opportunity to go to Reload, our on campus café and get a lovely strawberry oat milk matcha and possibly play a board game or smash on the switch.

Occasionally there is a society event, like filsoc, the filipino society on campus where we might be playing games and doing some karaoke, or Push start the fighting game society setting up a Tekken tournament. Or sometimes we head to one of the many hot spots at the Canalside here in Hackney Wick at the end of the uni day.
