How on earth do I apply my knowledge in A-level Physics

what the title says
I actually struggle badly with applying calculation methods on how to do a lot of the calculations in physics. Or even the explanations, especially circular motion + simple harmonic motion + mechanics
I’m doing exam practice questions right now and it all seems like blubber to me, I don’t know if I’m actually progressing or not in this subject
Are there any keywords I need to look out for?? Any tips or key ideas I need to know? I don’t know where to start other than watching video walkthroughs

Hi @mayarpapayar

I did not study physics A-Level however I did do the other sciences so hopefully this might still be useful.

Answering exam questions can be really challenging because you have to work out what the question is actually asking before answering it. I would recommend spending time looking at questions, deciding what they are asking and then answering them. Answering topic based questions might help you to do this. It is also important that you ensure that your subject knowledge is strong.

I used to spend a lot of time looking at mark schemes. This helped me to understand what key words and phrases would help me to get full marks on each questions. Often, a lot of questions have very similar expected answers so building a general understanding should help you in the final exam.

Video walkthroughs of answering questions are a really good way to start building your understanding of how to answer questions. You could attempt the question and then watch the video to see what you got right and what you need to add.

Hope that helps!
Sophie.

physics was weird for me in that i couldn't just go straight for the exam questions, they're way too hard to start with

to bridge the gap i did questions from isaac physics (https://isaacphysics.org/pages/a_level_topic_index?stage=a_level) then when i'd done those for a topic i'd hit the PMT exam question sheets and did much better
