How did everyone find the AEA Maths today? (Edexcel AEA Maths 2025)

I thought it was a really nice paper and enjoyed the questions.
The first integration by substitution and modulus graph questions were good. I liked the inverse trig equation too - I had seen questions like it before in past papers and it was relatively tame I thought.

The stats question was also pretty good - I worked backwards from the expression in terms of a to get the sin^2(2x). Did anyone else get no valid solutions for a?

I enjoyed both the vector question and the final differential equation one - I thought they were both really clever.

Let me know what you guys thought 😁

I thought it was pretty chill! I got two answers for a, it was in the interval (0,1) so I said both are acceptable. I found the last part of question 7 so hard tho

I found the paper to be super good. But i got only 1 value for a as i rejected the other due to it contradicting the range of possible a found in the previous part.

I found it awful but I never thought I was gonna pass anyway. I think I got a as -1/10 and 13/15 but rejected 13/15

Reply 4

I got a=(8-√34)/15
I knew it was a dodgy surd but I checked the crap outta it

My maximum value of a was 1/5 I think - cause the sin^2 had to be less than 1 and gave me an inequality that led to a <= 1/5 so I rejected both of the values of a I got though I might be wrong

I managed to factorise my quadratic and ended up with two fractions

Yeah, I remember being puzzled by it for a while but I noticed some nice things about the original equation and the coordinates and it all worked out in the end - tricky though

i also got this less than 1/5 but i couldnt seem to factorize and i used the fact that 5<root34<6 to justify rejecting one of my answers and accepting the other.

questions 7 took loads of subbing stuff in but i checked it on desmos and got it. a=sqrt(3e) b and c = e^(+-3e^-1.5)

Yes, I got exactly the same

did anyone get the radius of the circle as 4.5 for the vector question

Yeah, I just found the length of the midpoint of AC to X, doubted myself a little cause it was 4 marks but I barely did any extra work

Hoping that would be a style point

I'm in Y12 now so will hopefully be something to set me apart when I apply to uni next year, aiming for maths at Cambridge - how about you?
