Biomed

What work experience will u need to studying biomed in uni? I have quite a lot of work experience on healthcare but they are mostly related to medical field. I tired to search for lab work experience online but there isn’t any. Will u get like instantly rejected if you don’t have any? Thank you!

You can try getting some lab experiences at a hospital by just emailing or call your local hospital for a tour or smth and ask but other than some actual lab experiences which are hard to get. Universities won't expect too much in a sense for biomed.

Hi @clovdette

Honestly, universities won't expect in-person lab-based work experience in a personal statement. It wouldn't be fair to differentiate by this as it's simply not accessible and it's really difficult to get lab-based work when you're under 18.

They want you to show further reading and attempts at investigating the subject area outside of your curriculum. This could be through reading around the subject in science-related books, articles, or magazines, completing free online MOOCs, or attending extra-curriculars relating to your subject. Universities absolutely will not immediately reject you for not having lab-based work experience.
