Apologies trying to be better with my grammar 😅

I wouldn't care? It's not like both cyclists & cameras aren't common on roads.

Police generally don't know to deal with things unless they're reported. If someone is about to drive drunk should we just assume the police will 'deal with it'? maybe tipping them off would stop someone being killed, or is that 'grassing'?

These people are putting their own income at risk in the first place not to mention everyone's safety. it's not hard to grasp, leave your phone alone when operating a vehicle, there's no excuses and then someone like this has no reason to interact with you.

Also you would only lose your licence here if you either had previous offences, drive for a living - in which case you should 100% know better or are a new driver, who should be taking every possible precaution to keep their nose clean.

Given that the guys dad was killed by illegal driving moaning he's destroying someone income falls a bit flat don't you think?

I think the dad jokes are really mean… like I really do understand why people hate him I rlly do but the jokes about his dad are horrible and unnecessary
Probably give him a thumbs up if he is getting some donkeys off the road.

Whilst I agree with the dad comments take it too far as these days people are bullies and weren’t raised properly as there a lot of toxic people in our society unfortunately.

My point being, if you are at ststionary and hardly any cars are not moving you can check your phone but he still reports that as people need to check their phone for actual important things.

Not for playing games, you’d be ****ed off he catches you doing that when you are barely moving. But I may be wrong in my opinion but this is what i think.

People enough taxes and other expenses let alone and this grasp catches you out paying more money fines.

"My point being, if you are at ststionary and hardly any cars are not moving you can check your phone" - No, you can't. Your awareness of the road around you drops massively as soon as you start messing with a phone, undeniable.

"people need to check their phone for actual important things." No, they don't, if it's that important pull over and park.

There's no excuse here that doesn't boil down to 'but I think I'm special' and that alone is reason for others to want you off the road.

I'd drive accordingly, with a cyclist next to my car.

The only time I touch my phone in my car is when it's properly parked up.
For taking calls via bluetooth I only do that if the road conditions allow me to divide my attention with some element of safety and I keep calls brief. Otherwise the caller goes to voicemail.

On the one hand what cycling mikey does is totally lawful.
On the other hand, in the majority of cases we're talking about a victimless crime in a driver doing something on their phone whilst stationary in traffic.
And I've seen cases of police constables being caught on video using their phones in a vehicle with the engine on in a public location - with none of them being prosecuted. This makes me uneasy when mikey is taking an active part in this 2 tier situation.
And mikey would be doing a greater service to society if he were to record victim crimes: muggings, burglaries, assault and battery etc. The frequency of his videos would be less. The quality would be higher.

There are others that do a better job but also highlight how inadequate bikes are for proper traveling and why the laws need to be changed to allow for smaller cars and better ways to go places.
Here's a couple of examples from this channel.

"a victimless crime in a driver doing something on their phone whilst stationary in traffic"

If you're distracted on a phone then you're losing the credible awareness of whether the traffic is still stationary, pedestrians entering your path or any other change, that's kind of the whole point. (I would have thought someone with your username would have more respect for the folly of underestimating your own ignorance of a situation 😅)

Every road incident is a victimless crime right up until it happens and being distracted makes it significantly more likely.

It's down to semantics.

I've watched a few of Mikey's videos. I haven't seen a single person hurt or harmed as a result of the driver using their phone.

This is unlike burglars, where the occupant of the address is harmed by having their possessions stolen.

There's a very clear victim in the case of burglaries.

The "victim" in the case of Cycling's videos is based on "ifs" and what might happen. It's not based on what actually did happen. Therefore it meets my definition of a victimless crime.

If the vehicle driver caused damage to another person, or another person's property - through driving in a way that significantly increased their chances of the collision happening, then that would be a crime with a victim.

Nobody "needs" to check their phone while driving. Few of us "need" to check our phones more than once or twice a day, but we have all become symbiotic with our smartphones. Fiddling with a phone seriously reduces your situational awareness. Switch the phone off. Put it away. Drive.
