I previously went to a top performing private schools but my GCSE grades were average I achieved 5/6/7s and 2 8s. I had a family member pass away around year prior to sitting my GCSE’s, which affected my grades but was told I couldn’t apply for extenuating circumstances as the death was not in the correct time frame. What are my chances of getting into Cambridge? I’ve hear they are slim as I went to a top performing private. I plan on resitting math (6) and chem/bio (5/6). Will this boost my chances of being able to attend or should I just not bother applying. My level predictions are currently A*A*A

What are you applying for? What A-Levels are you doing? How did your grades compare with the rest of your cohort?
These factors will be more relevant than your GCSE grades

I’m applying for political science. I take psychology (A*) politics (A*) and history(A). My grades are above average in the 6th form I go to.
