Can a Google Certificate Land Me a Job Without a Degree?

I don't have a formal education at the University level, because I can't afford one. But I have a professional certificate. So I want to know maybe the certificate can at least land me a job.

That would very much depend on the certificate and its relevance to the employers you're targeting. What certificate are you referring to?

Having read a little about the course (particularly this review of it), I'm not sure that holding the certificate will lead to a job on it's own. It will hopefully help you talk with authority about cybersecurity at interview, but if the role is looking for someone with a wealth of experience and/or a relevant degree, then it seems unlikely that you'd be invited to interview anyway. Sorry. :frown:

What do you suggest I do?

What do you suggest I do?

In the UK, IT-related jobs are very much based upon experience. When hiring someone to do job X, they're pretty much only interested in someone who's done job X before. If, whilst doing job X, they gain skill Y, then they can use that to land a job requiring skill Y next. The problem with this is how to get the very first job - and that's where a degree would come in. In the UK.

However, I suspect you're not based in the UK. Am I right? That being the case, the way things work in your part of the world may be very different. I suggest you check-out some job listings for entry-level cyber-security roles and see what they're looking for. There will be lots which expect experience, even for entry-level positions. However, you'll hopefully find some that only specify their requirements in terms of the qualifications they're looking for. If so, then those are the sort of qualifications you need to obtain.

The only other way to land your first job would through knowing someone already working there, and getting a job informally via recommendation. Do you know anyone who works in cyber-security who could help you secure your first job?
