Hey! I would be more specific (If I was doing it lol) and write about female insanity, The Yellow Wallpaper (not really long enough to do) or The Bell Jar and stuff along those lines. This way you can discuss history and marginalisation, as with queer literature (I LOVE Carmilla omg), but pair it with your psychology interest if that makes sense. x

Yes yes I do plan on being more specific I just need a general overarching way of analysing the text to pick my books lol  do you reckon I could do queer literature and maybe write a paragraph or two on insanity? How it links in to contemporary beliefs like potentially linking to stuff like bedlam? And do you have any other queer literature recommendations? I thought about the monk but the queerness isn’t the main topic

Hey! For classic queer lit I'd recommend Picture of Dorian Gray (also gothic so could pair well with Camilla), and perhaps Maurice (I haven't read the book yet but the movie's great).
Also, I was able to do The Yellow Wallpaper for my coursework and I highly recommend it - as it's too short to use on its own I paired it with another short story by Charlotte Perkins Gilman, Making A Change (also about a woman with postpartum depression), and compared them both to Frankenstein.

Unfortunately we study Dorian gray as a comparison for our prose paper 💔💔 I thought about the yellow wallpaper but it’s sooo short :frown: do you do Aqa or Pearson/edexel!

I did Aqa. And you can do a short story if you pair it with another story by the same author, it counts as one text. Also even though it's short there's lots to talk about and analyse.

Depends what you mean by ‘queer’ - one of my favourite books is Orlando by Virginia Woolf which is an exploration of gender identity (and is also very entertaining). You could compare older classics with more recent ones, The Colour Purple or Oranges are not the Only Fruit? Or of course anything by Oscar Wilde haha. I’m not sure how you could link insanity unless you were looking at context around the works - e.g. marginalised voices or classical women’s literature?
