I want to do Physiotherapy at a university which is good. Read below

I do health and social care diploma. I also do sports extended certificate. I am predicted to DDM with my calculation or minimum a DMM right now I’m doing an EPQ which I know a lot of universities do not accept but I’m still doing it. A bit of background information I’m a black female I live in eastern England on previously lived in London so I’m used to being having a diverse community around me so I want to attend a university where there’s a mix without offending anyone I was aiming to go to a university in the Midlands Such as Nottingham Birmingham, Leicester. However, I don’t know if my grades will give me that in my GCSEs I got a five in maths sixes inEnglish language and English literature, 5-4 in science. I’m Kind of get Getting-stressed Because Leicester requires grade 6 in maths. I really do not want to do a foundation year but do not mind unless it’s incorporated. I am in year 12. I obviously don’t go to a university too close to home but i do not mind. I play football for mk dons women and thats why i wanted to go to university of nottingham to play for their womens first team. I have no situation at home that has stopped me from progressing.

Thank you for reading all this. Might be a load of waffle. What universities would you suggest to me.

If you don;t meet the essential GCSE grades, talk to your school now about retaking them in Y13. You would just add this GCSE to the UCAS 'pending qualifications' alongside your BTEC, and any Uni offer would include the GCSE grade as an extra condition. If you apply without meeting any specific GCSE requirements, its the quickest way to get an immediate rejection.

I Dont think i will retake i dont know about you but when doing maths i struggled alot because of various situations and do not want to relive that

Btw, if you are into elite sport, its also worth looking at more 'sports related' courses :
Sport Rehabilitation BSc Hons | University of Nottingham
Sport and Exercise Rehabilitation BSc Honours 2025 | Middlesex University

GCSE grades are set because of the level of Maths required to successfully complete the course. Its not 'nice to have' - as above, you will just get rejections if you apply to courses requiring higher GCSE gardes than you have.

The GCSE requirements won't be waived in clearing. Physio in general is a competitive course, but it doesn't matter where you study it as courses are held to the same standard by the HCPC. If you use the following course finder, you can filter the search by region:

Hi @noonen

Glad to hear you are considering Leicester for Physiotherapy 😊

Our grade requirements can be found on our course page: Physiotherapy BSc. On this page it says grade requirements for GCSE are six subjects at grade 5/C which must include English Language, Maths and Combined or Single Science subjects.

⚽️🏆️ At Leicester there are over 200+ societies to choose from and many sports ones, you can check out our womens football and futsal teams here.

Hope that helped a bit!

It doesn't matter where you do your degree - the NHS will only care that you are qualified, and your future patients won't ask.

Go to some Open Days, look around, and make your own decisions. If you think about it, anyone here has usually only been to one Uni, and therefore are not in a position to make a considered comparison with any others.
