work experience for med

I'm thinking about applying for med/ biomed at uni, so i was looking for hospital work experiences, however most hospitals in my area are booked up for the year, so i was thinking about doing a pharmacy work experience over the summer. I just wanted to ask those who have done a pharmacy work experience before, did you get learn about different medicines and observe patient interactions ect or did you just get given simple tasks that you had to do?
