Cat

This cat has been showing up to our house for the past two weeks, and obviously we’ve been feeding her. We bought her cat food and everything. However, the past few days we realised that she stays in our garden throughout the night too. Today, we took her to the vet to see whether she was microchipped, as soon as we got into the car she started freaking out and jumping around until eventually I forced her to sit on my lap. At the vet, she was obviously scared and wasn’t microchipped. On the way to the car I loosened my hold on her and she ran underneath the car and three strangers had to come and help me get her out. She wasn’t going to get back inside the car obviously so we just decided to let go of her and she ran off. Im freaking out now though and I feel so guilty. I feel like we should have forced her into the car and dropped her off near our house bc she obviously knows the area around our house whereas she doesn’t know the area around the vet. I feel so guilty I can’t stop thinking and worrying about her. I’m going to go back to that area tomorrow and see if I can find her. What would be the best thing to do?

Leave a box with a blanket and some food near where you lost her and also outside of your house and check if she sleeps in it

Don't feel guilty. You treated her well and she is safe. Cats find their way to their place if needed. She is scared and will probably find someone new nearby to feel safe around.

Stray cats are pretty safe outside, they can find places to sleep and eat easily.

She found her way back!!

Feed her and slowly try to bond with her... She probably won't be a house cat but could be a garden cat.
