Avoiding Shared Rooms in Woodland Court

Would like to include Woodland Court as one of the accommodation choices. But don't want to share a bedroom--and Woodland Court does have some (albeit a minority of) shared bedrooms.

Is there any way to express a preference for not sharing a bedroom on the accommodation application form? And is there any risk of still being allocated to a shared bedroom even after expressing a preference for avoiding this?

If you put this down then there is a risk that you could be allocated a shared room. The only way to eliminate this risk is not to include it.

You could contact the university accommodation team and tell them your feelings of anxiety over having to share a room and whether they can make sure you do not share. They may require a letter from your doctor stating this, which means you will need to speak to your doctor. (If you qualify for DSA support, this may be an easier conversation.)

Good luck

Hi there,

Thanks for reaching out - this was a worry I had too as I too was not keen on a shared room. On your accommodation form, there should be the option to specify a room type. If there is not, then you can always email [email protected] to explain your situation and ask if they are able to honour your request. They are super-friendly and usually quick to reply.

I hope this helps a bit, wishing you the best of luck! 🙂
