Hi shut,

Thanks for reaching out and its great to hear you're planning on going into medicine. This page has quite a bit of useful info on it, and when clearing opens on 5th July 2025 you can also browse medicine places on UCAS search.

If you are wanting to go into medicine then this is 100% possible if you have the grades - but you do not necessarily have to go through clearing. You always have the option to take a gap year and apply in the main cycle next year for 2026 entry.

During a gap year, you can work part time to save up some money for uni, volunteer if you'd like to, travel, try and get some NHS or private medicine-related work experience to help bolster your CV, and have a bit of headspace to think about what you might want to do (Is it medicine you'd really like? Or would you be open to biomedical sciences, clinical sciences, pharmacy etc? If medicine, then which unis might you want to go to? Take a look at different courses on UCAS?). A gap year is never a waste of time if you put it to good use, and its now very common for students to go to uni a few years older than 18 so this is quite normal.

Perhaps you could also try posting this on one of the TSR medicine forums so you can get some more specific advice.

I hope this helps a bit, wishing you the very best of luck!
