I'm thinking of resitting y12 can I go to a Russell group for law

I'm currently in y12 and doing politics, psychology, history. My psychology grade is at a D and my politics and history is at a A I'm considering resitting y12 to get better predicted grades so I can apply to a Russell group for law. Will my resitting affect my application to a Russell group?
The shortest answer I can give is that it might - but it's the kind of thing you'd need to check with each individual uni. If you have any mitigating circumstances, (ill health, family issues), those would be worth mentioning to them too.
As above entirely depends on which particular uni(s) you are considering within the RG. I wouldn't suggest focusing on the RG specifically to begin with as it's a) a very broad range of universities in terms of academic strengths and qualities as well as entry requirements, and b) membership has no bearing on undergraduate teaching (potentially even a negative correlation if anything) as it's nominally a postgraduate research consortium (actually a political lobbying group).

What is your plan for "resitting" year 12? Why are you considering that instead of trying to bring up your grade in psychology over the course of the summer and year 13? Have you explored the option of starting a new A-level as a "fast track" in year 13 to do in one year? Also as above, were there any mitigating circumstances applicable?
