What degree to choose

Hi,
I had planned to do a degree in midwifery however, I have really enjoyed A Level biology and am now wondering whether a degree in bio, biological science or biomed may be better for me. I feel like I would really enjoy the degree however, I don't think I want to go into research or work in a lab so part of me feels like if I did a degree in this then it would be wasted as I would likely go on to do a postgrad in another subject such as midwifery, medicine etc. Part of me also feels that this would keep my options open though as if I do midwifery and then don't like it I am a bit stuck. I went to a uni open day and heard that midwifery only gives you 7 weeks off in the year and that the course is v intense. So, now I feel that I wouldn't get the uni life and worry I may be lonely if everyone else has gone home for the holidays in my flat. If I did a bio degree first it would allow me to get uni experience and then I could do midwifery after and I would be older and wouldn't care about having the "uni life" anymore, however obviously this is more expensive and I would have to pay more debt off. I can't decide so some advice would be really useful please?

You're torn between a midwifery degree and a biological sciences degree. Consider this:
- *Midwifery*: Direct path to a midwifery career, but intense course with limited time off (7 weeks/year). You might miss out on "uni life."
- *Biological Sciences*: More flexible, broader knowledge, and university experience. However, it might add debt and feel like a detour if you're certain about midwifery. Think about your priorities: direct career path vs. university experience and flexibility. You could also explore combined programs or talk to midwifery students/professionals for insight.

You're young, follow where your interests are and then career and stuff will get slotted in. If you have a passion for an area do that first
