Chemistry A level grade E to A

Hello all, I just did my mock this year for chemistry A level.

I have worked a lot and a lot, but I don't think my revetion was very effective, and eventually, I received a grade E on my mock

I am wondering if I put the work, time, and effort in this summer holiday, will it be possible for me to get to at least B. I would be papier if I get an A, but yeah.

Please help me by giving me a recommendation on how to revise
Honestly, any advice will help me a long way

Thank u!

OMG SAME! I just finished yesterday, I'm predicted a dementing E too, and anyone who said a levels are a jump from gcses were lying. It's a whole LEAP off Himalayas!

My chem teacher said I should give up on wanting to go medicine because of my grade :bawling:

But honestly, I believe in us we can so revise well and ACE the tests.
I recently started locking in and for me the best way to revise is doing practice questions from physics and maths tutor, every single one and then REPEATING it after a few weeks or months so it sticks because its really not if you know the content, its more how u APPLY it.

If you do OCR a then just repeating questions over and over would get you at least an A
Donno about other exam boards

Exactly that is What Chemistry Tutor Dr.Nervana makes her students do...practice past papers and student results are mindblowing!

Hi there,

may I ask what year you are in? If you put the effort in, then you are capable of anything! However, you must be extremely discipline and cannot procrastinate - which can often be a shortfall. Start as early as possible and do a little every day, it all adds up and reduces stress and cramming - which allows you to focus more on exams.

Kind regards, Jenifer (Kingston rep)

I know you're just trying to be nice, Jenifer, but this is palpably untrue. Not every is capable of getting an A*, A, B or even an E. It doesn't help people to just do the whole 'reach for the stars' thing because it isn't realistic or reflective of real life.

It's worrying that you say you've worked 'a lot and a lot' and you've still ended up with an E grade. You need to speak to your teachers regarding your current progress, attainment and a realistic assessment of your potential. Anecdotally, it isn't common for students to go from a Grade E to a Grade A or B. It can happen, but it's not hugely likely so you maybe need to make a Plan B as a contingency.

Flashcards for mechanisms, you’ll see more in Y13, way more😅. I used flashcards for everything if I’m being honest but mechanisms definitely a must. As implied above, OCR is pretty limited to the type of questions they can ask per topic. So PMTs will rlly help you bang a chapter. Repeating a PMT isn’t that bad trust me. But also make sure you do papers. Times practice is SUPER important as pressure hits different in exams, even if you personally don’t feel it. Exam pressure literally alters ur thinking process, so even though you know the answer really, you cannot transcribe it onto paper for some reason. So timed practice is very important.
