Brighton University Guaranteed Interview Scheme

Hello! I do have a quick question, and I hope maybe someone who has been in the same situation will see this post. So, this year I will study biomed undergraduate at uni of brighton and i wish to apply for the medicine transfer aka guaranteed interview scheme. I am familiar with all the entry requirements - among these, there is the requirement of sitting the UCAT. From what I have seen on BSMS website, they rank students based on their UCAT score when they give the interview invitations and then they are again ranked solely on their performance at the interview. My question is, does it matter how much I score at the UCAT for this guaranteed interview scheme, considering that the UoB actually guarantees you this interview? If normally, students are ranked by their ucat score in order to be invited for their interview, but UoB helps you to automatically get an interview for BSMS (considering you just sit the UCAT), I believe it does not truly matter anymore how much you score right? Unless it is like a very low score lets say 1400/2700.

Thank you in advance!

Guaranteed interview is not the same as guaranteed offer of a place.

As I said - from BSMS website, after you are given an interview (based on your ucat score), they rank you only by the interview performance in order to give you an offer. So it does matter what UCAT score you have in order to get an interview - but UoB already gives you the chance to secure an interview, so you are not ranked by UCAT score anymore, but by interview performance - or at least that is how I see it logically. That's why I posted the question, to make sure if it is like that or not. Maybe it is not. I am hoping the question reaches people who have been into this process and could answer properly - not make unnecessary evident remarks. Thanks.

Hi @lore19
The UCAT requirement is the same for those in the route to medicine guaranteed interview scheme. Your score will still be ranked.

You can find out more information about the UCAT requirements here

I hope this helps!

Good afternoon!

Thank you for your reply! Is there also going to be a UCAT cut-off score for BSMS? I am not sure as this is I think the first time BSMS has UCAT instead of BMAT. Thank you in advance.

Yes there will be a cut off score. This is based on the average grade of applicants that year so it varies year by year.
