5th choice for Law

I'm going to reapply for 2026 entry as I changed my mind on what course I wanted to do (I now want to do Law) at my first choice university but I've been told it's very unlikely to go into clearing or have space for a transfer.
I have made 4 choices but I'm not sure where to pick as my 5th choice.
1) Uni of Manchester
2) Manchester Met
3) Reading
4) Uni of York
I've already achieved A*AA and I don't want to sit the LNAT - has anyone got any experience doing Law at uni that recommends their course?

If you already have A* AA grades why on earth are you applying for ManMet and Reading.

Birmingham, Newcastle, Liverpool, Southampton, Leeds ?

Are your GCSEs that bad - and have you asked your last school for help with your PS?

My secondary school didn’t put me in for very many GCSEs because of funding and compared to Law applicants I know they’re not great. I got 477 and then two BTECs.
I haven’t asked for help with my PS as I don’t know if I’d be able to.

Schools will usually allow those who have left the school to still apply through their UCAS portal. They can check your application, add your reference, and usually will help with drafts of your PS. Just email the Head of Sixth and ask - you will also need the school's 2026 'buzzword' to link your application to the school.

If the reason you have only a handful of GCSEs was outside your control, then the school can include this info in their UCAS reference.

I'm doing mine in Northampton. They do do a 2 year accelerated. Most of the lectures are actually really good lectures bar maybe 2 (but having said that, I think that every school would have at least 1 teacher who isn't great).

In northampton there is about 100 students total doing the 2 year accelerated and the 3 year llb and both courses do their lectures together (as the modules are the same) and the groups are very small (about 20 students per group) and it is more personal like that. So if you want to try getting onto the accelerated with your grades Northampton might be in clearing. The other universities are bigger classes and in lecture theatres etc but Northampton don't have lecture theatres its literally small groups from the start for law
Hi,

If you're looking to apply to the LLB for 2026 entry I would recommend coming to one of our open days in the Autumn, if you're able to. You can attend subject talks and speak with the law academics, as well as talk to current law students. You can also do this on our chat platform, here.

In the meantime, if you have any questions about the Manchester Met law programme, you're welcome to ask away here or you can contact our Course Enquiries team at [email protected] or on 0161 247 6969.

Hope this helps.
Mel 😊
