Wrong NI number

One of my students has accidentally put his mums NI number down as his own and has been flagged to him as he tried to put his mums info in. He contacted SFE and was told to send a letter explaining the situation and with the correct NI number. He did this a fortnight ago and is yet to hear back, any ideas?

Hi,

I would suggest contacting Student Finance directly over the phone as they may be able to fast-track his query this way. Please also note that summer is a busy period for SFE with many students renewing their applications so responses may be slower. But definitely try contacting them over the phone to see if that helps.

If the student logs into their SFE account during office hours, they should be able to start a live chat with an advisor to ask about the status.
