Things to do in Norwich during the Summer Break! Part 2: Outdoors
Hi there! I'm Charlotte, a Year 2 Graphic Design student at Norwich Uni Arts. Now that we've hit June and we're officially on summer break - I thought this would be the perfect opportunity to write about some fun things to do in our lovely city. With some students going back to their family homes over this break, and others staying in Norwich for most of the duration, it can be a strange time organising things to do with friends who have stayed - so hopefully I can help! This post will focus solely on outdoor activities, however keep your eyes peeled for an indoors based blog too

Firstly, I would like to mention the Riverside Walk. This is a picturesque path along the River Wensum, offering a scenic stroll through the city and into the countryside. It's a popular route for walkers and cyclists, allowing for exploration of Norwich's history and natural beauty and is approximately 2 miles long. This is a really nice walk to go on with friends and has some lovely areas with benches to sit and watch the boats on the river.

As well as this, there is Pub And Paddle. A canoe, kayak and rowing boat hiring company that offers a variety of packages and routes. There a varying routes depending on how long you want to spend on the water and how far you want to go - and they have included the pub stops along the way for those who want the full pub and paddle experience. This is another great activity to do with friends and is a brilliant way to see Norwich from an entirely new perspective.

Next up, I'd like to give a shoutout to my top picnic spots: Castle Gardens, The Plantation Gardens and Chapelfield Gardens. Each one of these is a beautiful place to just sit and take in your surroundings from a picnic blanket. I have been to each of these both with friends and also alone for solo trips. I always make sure to spend hours on end at each location as I find them so beautiful and I never get bored with my sketchbook or reading book in hand.

And lastly, although there are of course plenty more outdoor Norwich locations for you to explore too, I'd like to point out the cathedral. A really lovely part of Norwich with some great cafes both onsite and in the surrounding areas, and a stunning cathedral to sit near for a picnic or even a look around inside too! Not forgetting of course - the Paddington Bear bench - very iconic and worth a visit.

There are definitely a lot more things that you can do in Norwich of course, however these are my highlights and personal favourites. I hope you have fun exploring Norwich over the summer months!
