Does publications matter for individual research projects?

Does publications matter when mentioning individual researches in your personal statement / portfolio for universities application?

I’m planing to apply for medicine and I do have some researches that could be included in my personal statement but someone mentioned publication, does it really matter?

No, it shouldn't matter. Nobody expects you to have published anything before you've finished A-levels. The point is to show your interest in and passion for the subject through researching it. Do not worry about it, just enjoy doing the research itself.

Hello @Kaimookkk

Although research is very fun and one of the best, most awarding parts of research for me is the publication element, you do not need to publish it in order to include it in your personal statement. If you would like to publish it I would encourage you to go for it but in the personal statement universities don't really care that you have done your own independent research, they will want to know what transferable skills you have developed from your research and why this will make you an ideal student for that particular university.
