if you want A*s, and especially if you didn't get great grades in gcses (majority 7-9), then i'd recommend starting atleast at the end of holidays, maybe mid august. Obviously the earlier the better, but I definitely enjoyed the rest after GCSEs

Hello @Leoj2929292

I would advise that, unless you have summer project assignments set by your provider for your A Levels, you should not at this stage start revising (or as the case may be learning) the subject content of the A Levels. In the few weeks before you start you could do some flip learning but I would greatly advise that at this point, you ensure you have very solid foundations in the relevant GCSE content. What A Levels have you chosen to study? Many A Levels build on GCSE content so if you can really have strong foundations, the rest of the success should follow more easily.

I hope this helps. If you have any further questions, please do let me know.

Honestly, as someone that gets consistent -A/A*s in biology and psychology, if you absolutely HAVE to revise, itd be much better if you dont look at things in detail—only watch like broad videos to avoid burnout cus burnout is real. What i did was at the beginning of the year and i mean the START, start making flashcards/organised notes on every topic and write the things you struggle on, not the ones you find very easy. Goodluck in y12

How can you 'revise' when you have not actually started the course yet.

Have summer off. Do some silly, fun things and enjoy yourself.

Hi there,

I had this exact same approach and I ended up burning myself out - which affected my academic performance negatively. Unless you have been set some project work, I would not approach any A-Level content at all - the consequences of burn out can lead you to low grades and potentially, repeating the year. You worked hard for your break, so enjoy it! Have fun!
