Hi @Hellopeople!

I did Business at A-Level and now I am currently studying business management at LJMU. Business is a great subject to take as it is very broad and can be applied in most jobs! My advice for taking it at A-Level which also applies to all of your subjects is to revise on the go and keep refreshing all the new things you learn. This way when it comes to the final exams everything should be fresh in your mind and revision will be a whole lot easier. I left it slightly too late to start revising and therefore it became very stressful, very quickly so I suggest that to avoid feeling how I did!

As you only have 3 subjects compared to many more at GCSE, it is so much easier to keep on top of everything. When it comes closer to your exams, I recommend using past papers as a way of revising, they are very useful and give you a better insight into what the exam is like and how to structure your answers to the questions!

I hope this response has helped, let me know if you have any other questions about anything!

Thanks, Matt 😊

Hi @Hellopeople!

I did a-level government and politics, so might be able to give you some useful advice.

First think about what you need to focus on the most, for me it was the quotes I needed to know what quotes I could use for each topic, so I did practice essay plans and flashcards to help with this and focusing on case studies in the text book.

Maybe key debates would be a good to focus on in the textbooks as that is really what the questions are. Of course prioritise which ever paper is first and I don't know if you are doing the A-level were you compare UK and US but if you are of course it is great to focus on UK and have strong knowledge on those topics as it is in both.

The best thing to do is work back from you exam dates and plan what topic/themes you are going to revise each week/day. And try and be as realistic as possible with how much you can get done before the exam. Planning and prioritising can really help break up the content and making it seem less overwhelming, as the work is then spread over the weeks/days. I would start with the topics you struggle with the most.

Sometimes for me going through the questions on the last pages of each topic in the text book and seeing if I could write an essay plan for them would help me see where there were gaps in my knowledge. Also making up your own questions is a great way to revise.

I have also done a few others posts that might help

I hope this helps and good luck

Othello AND- streetcar named desire

Okay, I did Othello, and the best thing I can reccomend is over-analyse, don't underestimate ANY scene, like, for my exam in may, I was so sure that I wouldn't get a minor scene, but I did. Include so many theories, even if you disagree with them, theorists will be your best friend, as well as social context. The amount of essay's I wrote without bringing up Iago and the homoerotic theory was next to none, they all included it. Think about how each character links to what, and why they do that, what was shakespeare trying to say, why was he sayign that? every thing you will second guess will have a meaning!

academic plus on youtube for edexcel business is a game changer. in terms of exam technique, you can’t include application enough. your analysis and evaluation needs to be relevant to the buisness, even if that is simply referring to the type of customer the business sells to (eg. guests at the hotel, or travellers on an airline, rather than generalised customers). it is impossible to do very well in business without completely applying your answer. make sure your answer is rooted in application, rather than adding your application on top of pre learnt knowledge. hope this all helps!
