Friend owes me money

We went out for dinner together last night and the bill was £125.

Since we’d ordered together we decided one of us would pay and the other four would transfer that individual the money. I somehow ended up paying for it and obviously I didn’t mind as theyd transfer me.

Here’s some context btw me and my friends are all 19. 3 of us started uni this year , the other 2 have been on a gap year, I was employed throughout uni but quit my job due to a hostile workplace and i’ve been trying to find work since ( it’s been like two months). I’m currently using my savings and my family isn’t wealthy, i’ve been paying for everything myself since the age of 16 and everybody knows this.

None of my friends have transferred me the money, and £125 is obviously a lot especially considering the fact that i’m broke rn. So I messaged today sending my bank details as an excuse to remind them( they alr have my details). And three of my friends gave me a valid reason but said they’ll do it before the end of the week ( as they’re waiting for their wage etc). However, one of them let’s call her M just ignored my message, and Ik she got paid last week and her parents contribute a lot to her stuff e.g bought her a car and pay its insurance etc. so ik she’s not struggling financially. She’s messaged a bit on the groupchat and I reminded her again about the payment whrn she was active and she immediately became inactive ?? Lmao idk what to do now without feeling stingy but I need money

Yeah, you have a right to be frustrated. You are not a bank and they shouldn't have ordered that food if they don't actively have the money to pay you. Don't embarrass M in the group chat but send her a firm message making it clear that you have essentially lent her money by paying for her and now want it back. It might feel so awkward but don't let yourself be taken advantage of. If she is doing this on purpose, she is hoping you will feel too awkward to chase. You could even phrase it like "hey i dont like lending money because i think it can really sour friendships, can we square up soon?"
