Can I be able to chat with undergraduate students already enrolled?

How do I get assistance in assignments and research papers?

Hi Dr JJ,

Really good question. If you are starting uni soon, then look out for PAL (peer assisted learning) sessions (they may be called something slightly different uni to uni). These are essentially group tutorials where a few second years will give you a seminar on top exam and essay tips. They aren't able to proofread what you've written but many of them will have done very similar essays to what you are doing last year and so are a fab source of help. I found them really helpful in first year and also met some friends there.

You can also see if you uni has an online chat platform where you can engage with current student ambassadors from your course. Here at Bath we have TAP.

You can also use your lecturers for support - use their open office hour in the week to go and ask them questions, catch them at the end of a lecture - most will be very happy to help and a few may even be able to proofread bullet points or chat about your ideas and let you know whether they are in the right ballpark.

I hope this is of help, very best of luck! 🙂

Hi there,

Talking to current students can be really helpful, whether you are at Uni or are starting soon, so this is a good thing to find out about.

If you are a current student, looking out for student assisted learning sessions, as the Uni of Bath has said, is a good idea as some universities do this where you can chat to a current student and they can help you out with some of your work/general questions about the course etc.

You could also ask your tutors if there is any chance you could talk to a second year or third year student as they may be able to get one to come into one of your classes. If you have an academic advisor, you could ask them too if this would be possible and I am sure they would think about it and see if they could arrange it, especially if it will be for the benefit of your whole class.

There is also https://www.theambassadorplatform.com (The Ambassador Platform) which I know a lot of universities are on (Hallam included) where you can chat to current students about their time at Uni! Have a look and see if your university is on here as they may be able to help you out and answer some of your questions.

If you are not a student yet, have a look and see if there are any more open days left in the year that you can attend. This time of year is usually when universities have their last open days so have a look and see as these are great opportunities to talk to current students and tutors and ask them any questions that you might want answering!

I hope some of this helps,

Lucy - SHU student ambassador.

Hi

You may be able to access support from peers in higher years on your course; however, this varies from university to University. I would check with your personal tutor if there are opportunities to benefit from this at your university.

You can also chat to current students who are enrolled in a variety of courses here at Wrexham here!

I hope this helps,

Matt
