Applying to a Masters with a degree from a mid ranked uni?

I've recently achieved a first class degree in IT from a non Russell Group uni that's ranked in the 60s of the uni league tables - would this be a barrier to me applying to an Oxbridge uni for a masters in a related subject? I'm just thinking that if I have a chance of getting in then I should try and go for it next year.

In the meantime I'd work full time until the application process starts. I also would be applying to the scholarships, as I have a lot of circumstances including having leukaemia, being a first generation uni student etc so I'm not sure if this would stand out in a personal statement to them.

Wondering if anyone has had any similar experiences or path to coming to Cambridge like this? I'd still be happy going to do a masters at a good uni, but if it's possible to get in somewhere like this I'd definitely go for it.

I would say that I don't think it matters on the institution, just the contents and what grade you achieved from it.

There's no problem academically, so long as the undergrad course content was relevant and you've got references etc. The first to uni only counts for undergrad, ditto prior health that was during your undergrad but not mitigated at undergrad. So the challenge will be funding. Start looking for funding sources outside Cambridge during your working year, because that's the bigger hurdle for all Masters degrees.
