When to apply for vet med as a grad

Anybody in this position, do you think you have a stronger application if you apoly after you graduate and have your final degree classification? I’m going into my final year of vet bioscience and was going to apply this October using predicted grades, but want to give myself the best chance possible!

Hi @Tayy503,

Best of luck in your final year of bioscience! If you don't apply for next year by this October, would you do a placement year and build your experience or work and save? Researching into the entry requirement once you have your predicted grades will also give you an idea. I would also recommend emailing or ringing the university, to get some more information and ask any questions you may have.

It may be worth applying and then you could always withdraw or defer if you change your mind. But as Veterinary medicine is a very popular course, and you have a deadline to apply for, applying for next year may be a good idea anyways.

Let me know if you have any further questions.
Many wishes, ^Zac

I achieved a 2:1 in my first year and am on track for a 2:1 this year - aiming for a high 2:1 or first overall based on my improvement from 1st-2nd year. The uni’s I want to apply for require a 2:1, aside from Nottingham who ask for a first, as I don’t have an A in A-level chemistry.
I’ve got work experience booked over this July-September, and worked at a stables during my first year. I’ve done additional courses (canine first aid, equine nutrition + a few other short courses) and have also applied to be a pet bereavement volunteer and go through the necessary training with the Blue Cross. I’m trying to give myself the best chance possible, I just don’t know if it would be better with my actual degree classification, rather than predicted grade!
