Saint Dominic’s sixth form

Hi, I am a student who just finished GCSEs and split between my current public schools sixth form or st doms. I’m finding it very hard to make a decision between the two as I feel like the education is slightly better at saint doms and they may be a lot more driven to helping me towards becoming a doctor as I’ve heard doms is very good for people wanting to do med. but at the same time I’m finding it hard to leave my old school which generally has good education too(7 oxbridge offers this year etc.) . I’m hoping many people have been in this situation so too the people who have and those who go st doms currently what raw advice do you have for me . I’ve got offers for sixth forms like Brampton Manor but the travel time is more than 1.5 hrs which is something I don’t like the sound of.Thank you. My A level subject choices are Bio chem maths and further maths but I’m still considering further maths.

aw im in the same situation lol 😭 i think im going to try st doms though, since there's always the option to go back to your old school if you have to. Also it seems pretty cool, but the only issue for me is that my current school is like a ten minute walk but st doms is like 40 mins by train/ bus.

Have you decided yet where you're going to go (since this post was like a month ago lol)?

I’m sticking with my current school. Thinking about it it’s only two more years and I’d rather I spend it in this familiar environment with these very close friends I have. Additionally although doms offers better education , I firmly believe even with my school if I put my all into it I can get those top grades. I did think about going doms and coming back maybe but knowing myself I’m too indecisive to do that.Hope you have fun at doms and best of luck for the future

if you have any questions about Doms, feel free to ask me as I've just finished there. I didn't particularly like it and would not recommend (which is why I'm here trying to save you lot from it) but I think going there and being able to go back to your old school is a good idea

There are just too many students so lots of the teachers won't bother to get to know you and there isn't much of a support system.
Teaching quality is mediocre at best. They like to brag about their results but considering the fact that everyone who gets in has at least 6s in their GCSEs, their results are crap. Plus they kick out students who underperform (and they shouldn't be getting Es and Us if they got 6s and above in their GCSEs...). If the teaching quality and support were better, their results would show it.
It's pretty cliquey. And there's a weirdly competitive vibe there.

so would you rather go to a smaller sixth form if you had the choice to switch?
