Is cambridge possible for me??

Hi!! so I'm in year 12 right now and writing my PS and was wondering if its looking like Cambridge could be possible for me to study english lit - bear in mind that i go to an independant school currently....
Grade average of 8.2 at GCSE - with 11 subjects
currently doing english lit, drama and geography - predicted A*A*A and i got those same grades in my mocks. As for 'supercurriculars':
- I run an english society at my school as well as being the english literature ambassador
- Humanities scholar in my yeargroup
- Completed a telegraph journalism course
- Work experience over the summer at the london stock exchange (journalism and media dept.)
- Volunteering at a primary school doing english reading sessions
Might be slightly off topic, but I also have a silver industrial cadets award.
I'm also doing quite a lot of wider reading surrounding the english lit course in general - and if anyone has any book reccs for me pls lmk!
If anyone also has any advice on uni apps for english would be greatly appreciated
Yes in terms of grades and subjects, although I think wider reading should be your primary "supercurricular" in this case and you don't seem to mention much about this which may be a little worrisome...

Just remember that you have to show why the supercurriculars are helpful: demonstrate that you have used these things to good effect. Just reading a book wont cut it; reading a book, and then using what you have learned - say you do a series of comparative book reviews - will make your case sound a lot more convincing. Otherwise, from someone who probably wont go to Cambridge, all the best with getting in (sounds like you've got the grades).

To the OP, I think this person is joking. In case they aren't, this person is wrong.

Cadets isn’t important here, don’t just put “wider reading in your application” it doesn’t mean anything. Those supercurriculars aren’t supercurriculars, they’re extra curricular. Your grades are fine so stop stressing on that front

I'm aware on the wider reading front... so thanks for that - I'm going to specifically talk about how based on the english course ive branched out and read more feminist texts pertaining to my interests and what I want to study (eg rebecca, lysistrata etc)

You have a strong chance for English at Cambridge University. Moreover, there are only 4 applicants per place, so you should get an interview. 😉

Now have a look at the Cambridge Supercurriculars document here: super-curricular_suggestions.pdf

You could always read some books on this list: English | Downing College Cambridge

But don't mention more than 3 books in your UCAS Personal Statement.

Also, to help you choose a college, take a look at: "The Cambridge University Alternative Prospectus": Colleges

Just a note for OP, this poster is not a student nor do they have any sort of expertise in this subject. They repeatedly speak with authority that they don't have and it is getting rather frustrating to have to constantly point this out.

I can read your lecture notes and textbooks and handle the content of your degree too. I am of graduate calibre. But you seem to think I have no brain cells and am inferior to you because I have not been to a university yet. 😧

You have explained my point better than I could have.
