UoL accommodation (lasdun)

hi, so i just now received my offer for lasdun at university of leicester. i went for the property because its the cheapest option available. however, i just checked that its quite far from the uni and city centre.

+ i couldn’t find any reviews for the place.

Any suggestions? if i should get private accommodation or go for uni accommodation?

Hello,

It is understandable that you may be concerned about this, but many of our first-year students do start out in the Village accommodation and love it. You are close to Oadby town and there is a fantastic social life in the village. The Village accommodation is only about a 40 minute walk away but there is also a free shuttle bus for all students to use, which can get you to the main campus in around 20 minutes. The shuttle bus can even get you closer to the city centre, making it just a 10 to 15 minute walk from the bus stop to the city centre.

Whether you get private accommodation or stick with university accommodation is a personal choice based on person preference. Some of the advantages of university-managed accommodation is that all bills and basic contents insurance is included, there is guaranteed first year accommodation for all first year students, there is lots of help and support, it is easier to make friends with other people on your course as well as at the university more generally and every day/night of the week there are free events which take place through the accommodation team. These events can be from movie nights, coffee nights, food nights to various day trips such as to Oxford or Liverpool, like they had earlier this academic year, and is a really great way to meet new people and make new friends.

I hope this helps. If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to let me know.
