Can I take language GCSEs as a homeschooler

Hey, I'm home schooled and was wondering if it is possible to do language GCSEs. I am not sure because I understand that you have to do a verbal test and I am confused how that would work out as a private candidate.

I don't have an exact answer but I may have a general idea.
From what I've seen, some private exam centres do offer languages and give you the option to do the speaking exam there too if you can't do it elsewhere. I think Tutors and Exams centres have those.
Some of my friends did a language gcse not offered by our school but were still able to do it there. It was organised by the school as they applied and the school provided exam rooms for the paper exams. As for speaking, either some language examiner came or their tutor assessed them.

Hey @whatheflip,

It might be worthwhile reaching out to local exam centres to see if they could facilitate your verbal exams. Depending on your exam board, a list of exam centres can usually be found on the exam board website - if not, this JCQ search engine might be useful.

Keep in mind that language GCSEs which have lots of overall entries per year (Spanish, French, German, etc.) will probably be easier for exam centres to accommodate than those with fewer entries.

Hope this helped and best of luck!
