I can't help you too much disappointingly, but I'm aware that Cybersecurity degrees in other countries often asked about maths skills (Practice problems in either maths or basic computing), previous experiences with Comp Sci/Cyber Sec, and your awareness of recent major events in Cyber Security (Crowdstrike as an example!).

I'd keep in mind that if you've got an interview, they saw something in your application and now WANT to speak to you. They're interested in what you have, so don't feel too much pressure. Talk about your interests, talk about why Cyber Security interests you, and you'll generally be fine!

Good luck!!

Hey,

Interview anxiety is something so many of us experience, especially when it’s for something as important as getting onto a course you care about. The fact that you’re asking ahead and trying to prepare already shows that you’re committed, and that’s something to be proud of.

For a Cybersecurity course, the interview questions are usually designed to get a sense of your interest in the subject, your motivation for applying, and your basic understanding of what cybersecurity is all about. You won’t be expected to be an expert. They know you're applying to learn, not to prove you're already qualified.

Here are some questions you might be asked:

Why are you interested in studying cybersecurity?

What do you already know about the field?

Are there any recent news stories about cyber-attacks that caught your attention?

What are your career goals after completing the course?

How do you stay organised or manage your time (especially helpful for a tech course)?

Try to think of simple, honest answers. You don’t need to sound overly technical, just show that you’re enthusiastic and willing to learn. Even saying something like “I’ve recently become really interested in cybersecurity and want to explore how systems are protected against threats” goes a long way.

Interviewers are human too, and they appreciate honesty; it won’t count against you. Sometimes just saying, “Sorry, I’m a bit nervous” helps calm the tension. If you can, look up some basics about cybersecurity terms like firewalls, malware, phishing, or ethical hacking, just to show that you’ve taken some interest ahead of time.

You’ve got this, be yourself, and remember that interviews aren’t there to trip you up. They’re just a conversation to see if the course is a good fit for you.

Good luck 😊
