Music Foundations/Courses

Hi!
I’m coming back to education after a few years out (I’m 23 now!) due to some mental health issues. I only studied music up until GCSE and as I’ve had so long out, I was hoping to be able to find a standalone foundation year or equivalent to help ease me back in (or even one including a broader music foundation year). My issue is that almost every course I have seen is specialised- they tend to be foundation years in music production or songwriting etc. I’m reluctant to specialise just yet as I’m only just returning to the subject in formal education.
I have considered a CerHe but worry about my skill level as I’ve been out of education for a few years and due to the mental health issues haven’t been able to do much musically in this time, although have been doing 4 short music courses for the past year.
I do have a place at a university for a songwriting degree with an integrated foundation year, but at the minute am unsure if I can commit to a full four years and would rather start with something a bit less daunting to begin with (and also a broader course!)
Being out of school you do lose a lot of connections and people you can ask about where to go next, so I was hoping someone here might know of something that could help
Thank you!
