Help! Foundation years and

Hi!

I am a mature student/career changer. I was unable to complete my access course with just one module remaining due to life circumstances, but have had my heart set on studying a particular course at Kent for a while. I have an offer which I now can't meet. They don't offer a foundation year option on this course either.

I was homeschooled and didn't get formal qualifications barring an administrative apprenticeship a long time ago. I have ten+ years of work experience and have spent the last few years building out my resume in my new career (ecology & conservation) with a few different ongoing voluntary experiences and a 6 month stint at a well known charity, and a curated online presence in the industry. Do I try my luck and reapply through clearing without formal qualifications as a mature student? Do I apply for a related course with a foundation year and switch at the end of the foundation year? Or go for a different uni with a foundation year whose course structure doesn't appear as strong? I don't even know if I stand a chance at getting in anywhere, but I'm finally after a few years in a position where I can make uni work as a mature student and career changer, and I desperately want to give it my best shot.

Any advice would be so helpful! Thank you!

Hi,
I hope you are well!😊
I apologise for the delayed response!

What course are you looking to apply to?🎓️
I'm guessing something within the nature or conservation field?🌿🪴
All the work you have been doing sounds super interesting!😊 It sounds like you're really dedicated to your new career and building some amazing experience!😊

My best advice would be to contact our friendly admissions team or clearing team as soon as you can, who will be able to talk you through your options. I'm not from admissions so cannot advise you on the entry requirements, but I would recommend contacting them as they will be able to advise you in the best way possible🙂

You can contact admissions through the details below:

You can also book 1 to 1 appointments with an applicant support officer if you have any questions about the clearing process, or feel you need some extra support with the whole process🙂 You can find the booking link here.

I hope this helps!
Let us know if you have any other questions!😊

Wishing you the best of luck with your applications!🍀
