UoBath Insurance Choice Accommodation

Hi!
Let me preface this by saying that I know I need to wait for results day to know what’s going to happen and that no one can know for certain now, but as someone with a diagnosed anxiety disorder, it would be really helpful to know possible outcomes because I’m kind of freaking out rn.

I’ve put Uni of Bath as my insurance choice, but I don’t think I’m going to meet my firm offer, so I will probably end up at Bath. I know you can only apply for accommodation for Bath if it’s your firm choice, so I’m worried that, come results day, all of the good accommodation will have been allocated to firm offer holders, and I’ll end up with either really bad accommodation (eg shared bedroom) or maybe not even have a place at on-campus uni-owned accommodation at all.

I would really like to be prepared and plan for whatever the most likely outcome may be, so if anyone has any personal experiences or anecdotes about this situation, it would be amazing to hear them!

Thank you.

I made Bath my firm choice but I just wanted to point out that we had to select 8 or so accommodation and we are randomly chosen 1, this could be the one I prefer or one that I just selected it for the sake of it. So ibr anything could happen on results day. Hopefully the best happens

Hi there!

Great to hear you've made Bath your Insurance and congrats on your uni offers.

I would say that 'good' and 'bad' accommodation is subjective and depends what you want/need and how much you are prepared to spend. The accommodation allocation for Insurance students will open on 20th August, and when you apply through the portal you will be encouraged to make your selection. We'll do our very best to allocate everyone on the waiting list one of their choices.

I would also say however, that no matter what accom you end up with, everyone finds that your experience is more about the people you meet there. I had a friend at Bath who came to Bath as her insurance choice and was allocated temporary accommodation, but when she was finally offered a more suitable, permanent accommodation she ended up not wanting to leave the friends she'd made there! So things will work out one way or the other.

If you need more info about the allocation process then please do email [email protected].

I hope some of this helps - best of luck 🙂
