Third Class Degree

Hey everyone,

Recently, I completed my degree with a third class.

My GCSE results are strong however due to personal circumstances I was unable to perform to the best of my academic ability.

I want to pursue a Masters.

I was wondering if there is any university in the UK that accepts a third-class or are there any courses I could do to top up my academic performance.

Thank you in advance

You may want to be more specific i.e. what Masters course you want to progress onto, is your university aware of your personal circumstances and if you have any relevent work experience (sometimes work experience can make a big difference, did for myself as my entry for my Masters (same uni as my BSc) was a 2.1 or higher, where I got a 2.2 but had 3 years healthcare experience behind me, they allowed the wiggle room).

Some accept a 2.2 but I don't know any that accept a 3rd. As PP says, you may be best getting some work experience in your chosen field, as many will be prepared to overlook you missing the minimum entry requirement if you have relevant work experience.

Or, speak to your careers dept at your university. As a new graduate / alumni they will support you with these sorts of decisions, they're great for this kind of career planning stuff.
