Do I have to reject my offers to apply through clearing?

I currently have offers but a course I'm more interested in at SOAS (and have achieved grades for) is available via clearing.

If I fill in their clearing application, do I have to reject my previous offers beforehand or can I wait until they give me an offer to do so?

Or should I withdraw my UCAS application (because i guess it doesn't let you reject offers at this stage)

You can contact any Uni to ask if they are interested in you with the results you have - before rejecting your current offers/place. Obviously you would have to reject any place etc before formally entering that as a Clearing choice on UCAS - so, talk to SOAS first and then think very carefully about your decision.

Just remember that applicants applying through Clearing are often not guaranteed accommodation and this is something you also need to ask about and think about.

Hi there, I am a 2nd year law student at SOAS. I can understand that the lead up to results day and making university choices can be stressful.

As clearing opened on the 5th of July, you can apply for clearing. In order to do so, you would have to reject your offer from elsewhere in order to go through the clearing process.

I would recommend waiting until results day to see your grades before making the choice on what university to select. On results day, you can call SOAS, and we can let you know if you meet the clearing entry requirements and if their is space available on the course. What is the course which you are considering at SOAS?

I’m in the same situation too. You can try filling the form on the SOAS website, you don’t have to decline anything on UCAS yet. I assume after you fill that form they will inform you on their decision or if you have to do anything else. I advise you also email the admissions team or student enquiries for more information. I’ve just sent an email and yet to get a response.

Hi, thanks so much for your response. I already have achieved results but instead of H1H2H2H3H3 in the Irish Leaving Certificate, I have H1H2H2H2H4. I did actually apply for Politics & Arabic through the clearing form on the website, and I've emailed to ask about the process with currently holding an offer. Please do let me know if there's anything else I should know/do!

Hi there,

It's wonderful to hear that you are taking steps toward beginning your university journey.
As you have reached out via email, rest assured that any further requirements or actions needed on your part will be communicated to you by the university through email.

Wishing you all the very best!

They responded saying if you have received your results to fill in the form on their website and if you haven’t received them yet to wait for the clearing hotline
