Uni of Nottingham accommodation

Hello, I have accepted an offer for accommodation from the uni of nottingham. Southwell Hall, around 5k for the entire year from September to June. But I found out I have some family looking for a place to rent in Nottingham so I can live with them instead. It's better for me to live with them in terms of food situation and money ig but I can cook so food situation isn't really a factor but idk if I want to do that for the first year. Idm doing it for the second, third and fourth but first year I want to stay on campus as I heard staying on campus and like living in the halls is a good experience as you don't miss events, can socialise and everything. So I'm more inclined to live in the halls. But the issue with this is that they're deciding on a place to rent rn, so maybe not be available next year.

So I have 2 questions:

1) Am I able to leave my contract? I have already signed it and just need the grades and to pay. And if I am, how do I do this?

2) Living off campus, would I miss events and socialising with people? I'm more concerned with this as a first year no one will know me, and so then living off campus will not be ideal for this.

Thank you.

Hello,

With regards to the 1st question, I would suggest you to get in touch with the accommodation team as soon as possible in order to get a more precise answer. You may fill in the following form to do so (you will receive an answer in 3/4 working days): Accommodation - Enquiry Form

Based on my experience, I will not be a major issue. If you live in the city, you may still go to all sorts of events, so that you will not be missing out on that part of the experience 😀.

I hope it helps,
Abian.
