Pre-1900s AQA Alevel English Lit Texts

Hi, im doing a post 1900s called "call me by your name" and was wondering if anyone knew any other books (pre 1900) that can link to it through the lens of male expectation or identity?

The Picture of Dorian Gray could work well with the themes of identity and the societal expectations put on men. It explores how characters struggle with their identities and sense of self, and how they are influenced by societal pressure in different ways. It also may work well with CMBYN if studied through a queer lens, and also has the dynamic of the protagonist's life being greatly influenced by an older man. It's also just a great book so if you haven't read it yet I'd really recommend it.
