Geography a level - can u link NEA to medicine
Hi I'm in y12 and I'm planning to study medicine. I take geo as one of my subjects and we have to decide what our NEA will be about for y13. I was just wondering if I could somehow link my NEA to medicine (e.g looking into how deprivation affects hospital or a&e admissions in areas). Im not doing an EPQ so by linking my NEA to medicine is it worth it? If it's not i have other ideas I could do my NEA on which are probably easier to do. Has anyone ever done this before or just have any advice?

i suppose my first and main question would be what you'd get out of this by linking it to medicine? if it's for your personal statement, i honestly wouldn't stress too much as you could substitute it for extra reading or work experience or even moocs.
i did geo a level, and the nea was worth 20% of my overall grade. for this, id definitely recommend just doing what will get you the high grades you need for medicine. definitely make sure you're interested in what you're doing, but don't overcomplicate it for yourself either! physical geography investigations are perfect for this (ie, if you live near a rocky beach, longshore drift!)

Hi thanks for the quick response🙂 yeah I am mainly doing it for my personal statement, and the other NEA ideas I'm thinking of are probably gonna be about my local park or local regeneration plans etc. Getting a good grade in geo is probably more important so I can at least get into medicine lol
