Pick your 'easiest' subject, and do one entire day, or even a week, on just that subject.
Then do the next one, and so on. Don't dip in and out of different subjects - it'll just confuse you and set up a sense of panic.

Get off social media, and put your phone in another room.

Make yourself get up every morning and start work at a specific time like 10am - and make yourself stick to it. Work until 4 or 5 pm with sensible short breaks, and take the evenings off. Or, if you work better in the evenings do it the other way around - start at 1pm, and work through to 9pm or whatever.

The key things are routine, and being very firm with yourself !

Hi @Stupidwebsiegon

Definitely great points in the previous post.

To help you make a routine that works for you I find it useful to write down weekly and daily to do list/time blocking as it helps keep me accountable and see that I still do have lots of free time to enjoy in the day alongside getting done what I need to get done. Maybe plan each day the night before or in the morning.

I would work back from the end of summer and plan what topics you are going to do each day/week so you can be realistic with your time and how much you can get done.

Not going on my phone when I wake up in particular helps me feel more motivated throughout the day.

Also having a space that you work well in really helps! When I am at home I feel I get distracted in my room, so finding other places in the house helps. And when I am at university I am always in the library to get things done.

I have previously done some posts I will link that might help:

I hope this helps and good luck

What course or career are you intending to pursue at University?

Get a second hand textbook that could be considered a key text for your course and park it on your study desk right next to your normal work area. You might not understand it all but an occasional glimpse or read of some of that content can be very motivating as it keeps your end goal within easy reach and reminds you of that end goal.

For ages and ages I have had various textbook on my desk but for me the key one is something like Robbins and Coltran's pathologic basis of disease or Harrison's principles of internal medicine. Whatever I'm working on I always have something like this on my desk.

Hi @Stupidwebsiegon,

The Year 12 summer feels like freedom for the first time in ages, and it’s so hard to get into “revision mode” when your brain’s just like rest. But you’re also right, Year 13 will come at you so quickly, and those first tests can really shape your predicted grades.

Here are a few things that might help:
1. Don’t aim for perfection just aim for something. Set a super small goal each day (like 20–30 mins of revision, or one topic of flashcards), and once you start, it’s way easier to keep going.
2. Use the 80/20 rule. Focus on the stuff that’s most likely to come up in those tests or what you know you're weaker at. You don’t need to revise everything all at once.
3. Visualise the WHY. Picture opening your results and feeling proud. Or getting that uni/course/apprenticeship you want. You don’t need to feel motivated every second, but reminding yourself what’s at stake can help you push through the resistance.
5. Make a checklist. Break your revision down into tiny tasks and tick them off. It gives you a weirdly satisfying dopamine hit. I would devise a checklist or revision schedule around the specification points.

Rooting for you!

So what part of pharmacy interests you? Get a textbook that includes that.

Make incentives for yourself by setting an objection what you would like to revise and learn on a day and do things you are fancy spontaneously, no matter what it is. Being in a public open-air swimming pool or eating a good ice cream and many other things.
Hello there!

Finding motivation to revise during the summer can be really challenging.
There are some suggestions that might help you.

Try to connect your revision to your bigger goals. Remind yourself why you need and want those A’s and how achieving them will open doors for your future.
Breaking your work into small, manageable chunks can make it feel less overwhelming and easier to start.
Creating a balanced timetable that includes regular breaks and rewards can also boost motivation. For example, treat yourself after finishing a study session.

Sometimes it helps to change your environment, and maybe studying outdoors or in a different room to refresh your mindset.

Try to stay accountable by sharing your goals with friends or family who can encourage you and help keep you on track.

Remember, motivation often grows once you take the first step, so starting with just a little revision can build momentum and make the workload feel more doable.

I hope this helps!
