Imperial computing: chances of getting an offer?

Hey guys I’m a current year 12 aiming for Imperial, Warwick, St Andrews and possibly Cambridge for computer science primarily.

My current stats are A*A*A*A predicted and I take maths, further maths(my a), economics and computer science. I’m aiming for a high TMUA score of around 7.7-8.5 but what do you guys think my chances are of getting into imperial without the A* in fm? If you need my super curriculars I can also post them

Your stats are already competitive AAA*A with Maths, FM, Econ, and CS is a solid lineup. But for Imperial Computing, they really do expect that A* in Further Maths. It's not always a formal requirement, but in practice, most offer-holders have it. The course is very maths-heavy, and your FM grade signals how well you’ll cope.

That said, it’s not game over if you’re predicted an A. A strong TMUA score (7.7–8.5 is excellent) plus standout super-curriculars and a sharp personal statement can still put you in the running. Just be aware that you're competing with people who tick every box.

Here’s what I’d suggest:

Push your FM grade prediction up if you can even if it means working closely with your teacher or bringing in a tutor.

If FM is where you're currently weaker, consider working with a tutor specifically on STEP-style problem solving it’ll sharpen your mathematical thinking and help both for Imperial and if you go for Cambridge too.

Use your TMUA prep to deepen your logic and abstraction skills, especially under timed pressure it makes a difference.

Super-curriculars are a big deal for Imperial things like competitive programming, CS projects, algorithm challenges, Olympiads, or MOOCs on AI/machine learning all help.

Finally, working with a specialist TMUA tutor can really help bridge the gap and refine your application especially if you’re right on the line for predicted grades. Let me know if you want a steer on how to structure that support. I'd suggest you find one who knows Imperial's style and has prepped applicants before - full disclosure, I am an admissions tutor, and I'd recommend some specialist TMUA Tutoring via The Profs, but there are many of us tutors out there and good luck finding someone who can help you.

Do universities like imperial care much for research programs, I completed one for quantum computing that covers a lot of undergraduate mathematics and a couple of projects and moocs. But I feel like I have a supercurricular missing

How about GCSEs?
I got predicted 4A* in maths,fm, cs and physics
Got all 9 in GCSE but 6 in emg lang
