this was the email :
Undergraduate applicants who have gone through Clearing are guaranteed an offer of college accommodation for the 2025/26 academic year. However, you will not be able to submit college preferences or accommodation preferences.
After A-Level Results Day on the 14th of August, your college and room will be allocated, and you will receive a Licence Agreement which details the terms and conditions of your assigned college accommodation. To secure your offer of accommodation, you must accept your Licence Agreement by paying £200.00 Advanced Rent.
Where you have made an Advanced Rent payment, this means you have secured college accommodation. By making the Advanced Rent payment you are agreeing with the full terms and conditions of the Licence Agreement, including any penalty charges incurred where appropriate.
You are likely to receive your Licence Agreement during the last two weeks of August.

Does that mean we can't choose our own college? I'm an international student and got the offer through clearing back in July, but I did not receive any correspondence from Durham since then. All I have is a UCAS confirmation that I secured my place. I did see that Durham's website stated that all undergraduate students are guaranteed accommodation. However, it did not explicitly say clearing students are not offered accommodation preferences. Now I'm really worried I'll end up in a college I won't love. :frown:

Theres a phone number on here under 'what happens during clearing', I assumed we had to use that

Typical Durham  On the student version of this it only says the phone lines are open until 13th August and doesn't mention beyond that.
This version also confirms there will be a clearing web form to fill out tomorrow which isn't mentioned on the student side but is what I suspected. Thanks for sharing this page 🙂

Hey, on UCAS it says that Economics is in clearing but on the website it says it isn't, which is correct? Thanks

Typically updates hit the uni website before UCAS, but it doesn't look like they've updated the website this evening so it's possible UCAS is more up to date right now. I'd try not to overthink it overnight (get some sleep!) and have another look in the morning

Have you had any updates yet? Given as its results day, I think we’re supposed to have our portal access and college stuff as of now but I don’t…

Hey! Durham will make an offer of accommodation to all new undergraduate students who request it. Once you accept an offer of a place to study at Durham via Clearing, the Colleges Membership and Accommodation Office will contact you about confirming accommodation. I know it can feel a bit worrying but someone will contact you about accommodation and from a current Durham student I hope it helps to know that all of the colleges here really are great. The colleges are far more similar than they are different and my friends who weren’t allocated their original preferences absolutely LOVE their colleges and wouldn’t change it.

I haven't received any updates from Durham yet. ☹️ I'll wait a couple more days but if it's still the same by the end of the week I will email them to ask for the login and accommodation details.

Results day isn't a magic switch on these things unfortunately - I imagine they won't be progressing accommodation etc. until next week as they'll have been dealing with clearing this morning and all the hard work with getting confirmations through the last few days. Hold tight, shouldn't be too much longer!

You'll receive it over the next few weeks but all universities get a crazy amount of phone calls/emails etc and the priority for results day is to ensure all applicants have been accepted/rejected correctly. You won't be able to enroll to Durham until you've completed your Final Acceptance form, which you can find on your portal (the same one you ranked colleges on). Once this is complete you will be able provided with details to your student portal and invited to enroll. Your college will also reach out soon to confirm, but at the moment colleges will be under lot of pressure to place everyone correctly. I assure you it is very normal at this point to not have received this information - I didn't last year on results day )

Hi, as above the current priority is most likely clearing and ensuring applications were responded to correctly - don't worry if you don't receive login and accomodation details! This will be processed over the coming weeks. If you haven't had an offer of accomodation by the 12th september that will be when you need to reach out

Do you have your college or portal yet? Given I was accepted in mid July I would’ve thought I would know my college by now… but I guess given as that’s still technically clearing and I was never asked to rank colleges it kinda makes sense(??) I just have absolutely no clue how this system works and preparing to move countries with little communication from Durham (other than my UCAS confirmed place) is kind of stressful. if anybody could tell me when you think we’ll get this portal stuff and colleges or when it normally drops that would be great as I feel like I’m floating around at the moment with no clear direction.

Hey! Congrats on your offer to come to Durham. 🥳

I completely understand that the wait is stressful, but rest assured Durham will be in contact about your accommodation shortly and with information about how to access the portal.

In the meantime, if you have any questions about Durham please reach out to me, I’d be happy to answer from a student’s POV.

Nope, still no word from Durham. I heard there's an internal deadline for college allocation which is around early September (imo is already too late considering we have to move in at the end of September), so we'll probably receive updates by then. I'm in the same exact situation as you right now and i'm also super nervous. I'm most worried about college allocation and what type of room I'll be getting. I heard that people who met their offers have already received final confirmation of their college allocation, yet here I am still checking my inbox everyday to see if there's any updates from Durham. ☹️

It’s so stressful! But I feel like there’s nothing we can really do except sit and wait like I’m sure it will all work out 🤞I’m hopeful that our colleges will get allocated this week and we’ll get all our log in information and stuff when that comes🤞I think the thing about early September is getting licence agreements to sign from our colleges hopefully. I feel like it’s quite unfair that the applicants who went through the “main” period of applications have their final allocations when we have nothing but I guess that’s just the way it is. I reckon we just need to chill and not stress like we’re in and it’s just the final waiting bit now I guess!!!! ❤️🍀🏠📚

When I put my thing onto UCAS i got the acceptance about 2-3 working days later because I had a feee status inquiry - don’t stress, I’m sure it will all workout and good luck.

Yeah I agree. All we can do is wait 🤞🏻Btw this is not really an update but Durham just asked me to fill in a parental consent form (cuz i'm still under 18) so perhaps they're starting to process college allocations for clearing students now? (Or maybe I'm just being delusional hahaha)

I also saw in the form that students under 18 are normally placed in a single room, which is great news for me!!!! I was convinced I won't be able to get one since I got in through clearing and am probably the last ones in the priority list. (Sending good vibes to you too😆)

Saw on another thread that 21st aug was the date they got confirmed last year as a whole & had an email from college accom (after calling and emailing) to say I would get my college and license agreement after results day, specifically last two weeks of August. So hoping hoping hoping hoping hoping hoping hoping itlll be like tomorrow on Thursday

I just received an email about pre-registration and enrolment. Looks like we will be hearing about portal login details soon?! Yay! I hope there will be some more updates about college allocation in the next couple of days. Fingers crossed!🤞🏻
