why do I not qualify for maintenance loans?

Hi, so this is my situation:

I did a foundation year and a first year at a different uni. No that I am back in education, I qualify for student fees support based on the 3+1 rule. I self-funded my first year, so I am trying to apply for for student loans for my remaining two years. I thought I could also apply for a maintenance loan, but SFE emailed me to say to fill out a different form to send back, and that's for fees only.
Please can someone explain? I am very sorry for the confusing situation and tried to do my own research before I applied. I am very scared and nervous tbh regarding my financial situation, so please be kind in the comments.

Thanks in advance!

edit: please can you also tell me if I would be a continuing student? I have studied foundation year before as well as a year 1 in a different uni. I will be doing year 2 in a different uni this coming september.

Hi there,

Normally, we've give you a reason why you can't apply for the Maintenance Loan.

In the e-mail you received did we explain this? For example, do you have Pre-Settled Status, or something like that?

Thanks, Graeme

The form you have completed is incorrect because⦁ You have completed aPR1 application form, we require you to completea EUN form^that's what was written to my email.

Hi there. Do you have EU pre-settled status? If not, what is your nationality? Thanks, Leah.

I have settled status. My nationality is Italian and I also have obtained British citizenship recently.

Okay, now that you have Settled Status you can apply for the Maintenance Loan.

The form to do this is the PN1 form, which you can find linked below.

You can complete that form and post it to us as soon as you can: we can then confirm if you're entitled to the Maintenance Loan. Just to let you know, we're currently processing application forms in 6-8 weeks.

Thanks, Graeme

Thank you for your reply. I am confused because that was the form I had previously sent before I received an email to say it was rejected. Should I send it again? Are there any specific questions I should look out for? I used the notes to answer every questions, but I don't want to miss anything again.

Based on your initial post, it was the PR1 form that you sent us. That's the form for returning students.

Just to clarify, when you change from Tuition Fee only to getting the Maintenance Loan we ask that you apply as a New student, so the PN1 form is the right one to use, rest assured.

Thanks, Graeme
