I got 4 A's including Maths and B in Physics in highers. I got conditional offer in Edinburgh university with 5 A's. Not sure if Edinburgh University will accept this near miss in Physics?

Firstly, congratulations on your results - I'm sorry to hear you missed your Physics grade, but your results are fantastic and you should be very proud.

Have you checked UCAS at all? What is your status currently on there?

Only if you're part of widening access but email the universities you want to apply to just in case!

Hi I got A in Maths, A in Physics, A in Biology and B in Chemistry and Engineering Science.
What's my prospect at University of Strathclyde Aero+Mechanical Engineering intergrated MEng course? I have also taken Advanced Physics and Maths this year.

AAABB, very well done.

Here's the info:
Highers
Standard entry requirements*: AAAAB
(Maths A, Physics A)
Minimum entry requirements**: AABB
(Maths and Physics or Engineering Science)

For Advanced Highers, Maths and Physics recommended.

Thank you for the reply. I have taken Advanced Maths and Physics this year. Should I apply in Sept 2025 or 2026?

For UCAS you'd be applying in the 2026 cycle, unless you wanted to go to uni this September in which case you'd be on the 2025 cycle. The year on the application is for when you want to begin your university studies.

So when do I apply for a 2026 cycle. Will scoring A's in AH Maths and Physics guarantee a place at UWS Aero+Mech Engg

You can set up an account in the 2026 application system now if you want to, you won't be able to submit and send your application until early September. Deadline for submitting your application is the end of January 2026, so you have plenty of time.

Thank you!
Yeah, decent enough. I still have over 5 weeks until my exam date so I'm looking to shift into improving my timing and then onto full mocks in the coming weeks.
Have you already taken/ are you taking the ucat?

Nooooo, you couldn't pay me enough to want to pursue medicine - I've gone through uni (studying history) and an out the other side now.

Haha, I know what you mean, it is tough going!
What kind of jobs are there in history, apart from high school teaching?
