Commuting to Sutton Bonington campus from Castle Donington?

Hi,

I will be studying at the Sutton Bonington campus from next April and will potentially be renting a property in Castle Bonington. Before I commit I wanted to check if anyone here has experience, or knows someone, who lives in Castle Donington or nearby and commutes to SB? Since it's on the other side of the M1 and I know there are a lot of events at Donington Park I'm a little concerned about possible road closures/diversions etc regularly impacting my commute. Not sure if I'm just overly worried because my only context is that I've seen what it's like for Download festival, but maybe that's the absolute worst it gets and the rest of the year/events aren't as impactful?
Any info would be appreciated, TIA!

Hello @Corri93!

I would argue that having a car is the main factor here. If you have to rely on public transport for your daily commute, it may be rather inconvenient. Events at Donington Park tend not to be massively crowded (aside from World SBK and BTCC) but the airport is also nearby, which a logistics hub for delivery companies such as DHL. Hence, there is bound to be activity across the day.

Nonetheless, Castle Donington is usually a quiet village but I reiterate that a car is important.

I hope it helps,
Abián.

Thank you! Yes, I should have mentioned in my original post - I do have a car 🙂
