Can I complete second and third year of uni in one year rather than two years?

I’ve just finished my first year of uni and found it quite easy with quite a small work load. My family and I are moving to another country within the next year or 2 so I’m not sure if I’d be able to finish my course. I was just wondering if anymore knew if it was possible to complete the next 2 years in just 1 year so I have time to finish my course before I move away.

Hi there,

My gut feeling is that this isn't possible - just as I've never heard of anyone doing this before and it's a lot of work. You also usually need to pass year 2 modules to then go on to complete final year too, so I'm not sure it's possible to complete both at the same time.

I think the only people who can confirm this for you would be your university, so I would recommend contacting them. You can always discuss your living situation with them too to see if there's any support or advice for completing your course despite your move.

Hope this helps. 🙂

You won't be able to do this.

Why do you need to leave the country part way through your degree course? Can you not stay to complete your degree even if your family leave? (Or is this a visa issue -- perhaps you're in the UK as a dependent?)

If it's a visa issue, I would suggest that you talk to the visa team at your university. If you need to change visa type, for example, they should be able to advise you on what your options are.
