Applying for SFE online, but it won't let me as I have QTS- help!

Hi,I'm trying to apply online for funding for a second degree which is exempt from previous study (Psychology) but it asks if I have QTS (which I got back in 2023) then it tells me that because of this I can't apply online and that I can only apply for the Maintenance loan but not online.I'm so confused... it was my understanding that I could apply and get both the tuition fee loan as well as the maintenance loan and that my previous funding didn't count as my new course was an Allied Healthcare course. Can you please advise on how I can apply for the tuition and maintenance loan for my degree? Thanks in advance

Hi there,

Psychology isn't a full-time exception, so you won't be entitled to a Maintenance Loan or Tuition Fee Loan if you already have a degree.

However, Psychology can be an exception when you study it part-time instead. So, it may be worth asking your university if that's an option instead.

Thanks, Graeme

Hi there. Psychology is not an Allied health Professional Course (AHP).

Psychology is only a previous study exception course if studied part time.

You can view a list of our exception courses here: https://www.heinfo.slc.co.uk/resources/guidance/courses-management-service-user-guide/eligibility/equivalent-or-lower-qualification-elq-exceptions/?alttemplate=printchapter&id=1454

There are different ones for part time and full time, although AHP courses are exceptions for both full time and part time study. Thanks, Leah.
