AQA English Literature NEA coursework help.

Does anyone know if you can do LOTR (fellowship of the ring) for a coursework post 1900’s option?
Additionally, does anyone have recommended texts to compare with it (pre 1900’s)

Hi. I did my NEA last year. I asked my teacher just that, if I could do LOTR or Harry Potter, but I couldn't because they're not literary enough. You could always ask your teacher if you're not busy though, see what they say.

Just looked on the spec, took me over 10 mins, lol.
It says:
Texts chosen for study must maximise opportunities for writing about comparative similarity and difference and must allow access to a range of critical views and interpretations, including over time . Students should take an autonomous approach to the application and evaluation of a range of critical views.

So, the way I see it, asking as you can find good critical views/interpretations and do some good analysis, you should do good with LOTR, but I still recommend you ask your teacher first, just in case.

This might be a little late but LOTR technically counts as a world war 1 Novel. You might approach it from that angle. But I'd say any book is a maybe unless you can pair it and then also come up with a question. Keep in mind though AQA does
Have a WW1 paper so some books are off limits but there are a plethora of ww1 novels and poetry.
